Alape Manufacturing Process:
- Deep Drawing process presses and moulds Alape’s special steel into their basin shapes and a thickness of 1.5mm.
- Laser cuts precise shapes, dimensions and cut-outs
- Edges are bent and folded
- Basin corners are hand-welded by a craftsmen & edges/seams are carefully ground by hand
- Welding and Grinding robots complete the process with accuracy & precision
- Glaze is made by powdered glass flakes & water (hence Glassed Steel)
- Every sink is hand glazed with 3 layers
- Products are fired and the glaze melts and bonds to the steel to become Glassed Steel
- Strict quality control process assesses the thickness of the 3 glass coats
- Basins are fitted with sound pads to promote optimal acoustics (to avoid sounding metallic or hollow)
